How to Record Highlights on Overwatch Directly

Overwatch itself has a built-in highlight recording feature. It not only helps to automatically record the top 5 highlights of the day but also provides hotkeys for you to manually capture highlights while playing. Once you’ve captured the highlights, you can save them to your computer and access them in your computer’s storage. If you prefer to record Overwatch highlights on a PC without using any additional apps, you can rely on the native feature within Overwatch itself.

To record a highlight on Overwatch:

Step 1. Launch Overwatch and head to Controls > Miscellaneous to find the hotkey.

Step 2. When you are in the game, press the hotkey, such as F2, F3, or F4 to manually clip the last 12 seconds.

To save Overwatch highlights:

Step 1. After you play the game, go to History > Highlights.

Step 2. Go to the Recently Captured section to find the clips you manually captured.

Step 3. Find the highlight you want to save, right-click it, and choose Record.

Step 4. Click the Settings icon to set the output video resolution, quality, and other options.

How to Record Overwatch Highlights on PC for Free

There is an easier way to capture Overwatch highlights on your PC, which is to use the built-in Xbox Game Bar recorder on Windows 10 or later. It not only helps to record Overwatch games but also allows you to record past gameplay to capture highlights. Besides, unlike Overwatch which can only clip the last 12 seconds, Xbox Game Bar works to record the last 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes, depending on your settings.

To record highlights on Overwatch on PC:

Step 1. Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Captures.

Step 2. Toggle on Background Recording and set the highlight duration.

Step 3. Customize the video quality and other options.

Step 4. Go to Xbox Game Bar (Windows + G) > Settings > Widget to select audio to record.

Step 5. When you are playing Overwatch, press Windows + Alt + G to record the past gameplay easily.

How to Record an Overwatch Highlight in High Quality

If you happen to use a GeForce GPU on your computer, there is another native game recorder for you to freely record Overwatch games, which is GeForce Experience. This software is available for computers that use GeForce GPUs. With its Instant Replay feature, you will be able to clip the last 15 seconds to 20 minutes on Overwatch. To record an Overwatch highlight:

Step 1. Open GeForce Experience on your PC and sign in.

Step 2. Go to Overwatch and press Alt + Z to open the GeForce Experience overlay.

Step 3. Click Settings > Video Capture to customize the recording settings.

Step 4. Click Instant Replay and choose Turn on.

Step 5. When you need to clip gameplay, press Alt + F10 to save the past gameplay to your PC.
